Viognier Eclectique Spilitsa
€55.00 – €82.00
Viognier Eclectique Spilitsa. A pure Viognier. The vineyard is located in the area of Spilitsa in Argolida with an altitude of 300m. This is a special vineyard, because the subsoil is rocky and this enhances the “thirst” of the vine and therefore the quality of the grapes.
In each harvest, the process begins by straining the main stem of each bunch to cut off the flow of grape juice. The grapes are picked after the bunches are dried on the vine for a week.
The Viognier Eclectique is fermented in new and used 225L French oak barriques, carries out malolactic fermentation and matures for 12 months sur lie, with regular batonnage. The final blend is bottled under a screw cap and matures in bottle for 3 months in our cellar. The aging potential exceeds 5 years.
Originally of gold-straw color with brilliant highlights. On the nose it is really complex and elegant, expressing the Viognier character beautifully. It reveals aromas of ripe peach, orange blossom, citrus rinds as well as tropical fruit. The oak’s characteristics –sweet vanilla and hazelnut– are superbly incorporated into the wine and compose a rich bouquet, while the smell of bread crust reveals the contact with its lees. On the mouth it is full-bodied with great texture and crisp acidity. Flavours are consistent with the aromas and the aftertaste is powerful and of such great complexity, it feels as though it will last forever.
