NEMEA Grande Cuvée
€22.00 – €57.00
Grande Cuvée was first bottled in 1996 and consists entirely of Agiorghitiko. The vineyards are located at a high altitude in Nemea at 1040 meters. Planted in 1991. The soil is sandy with a little clay and rich in iron which dyes the sand almost red.
Behind this label is hidden a rare Agiorghitiko, which can age amazingly. What makes it unique is the high altitude, the low temperatures that prevail, its exposure to strong winds and the iron-rich subsoil. All this together sculpts an Agiorghitiko with unique finesse.
Due to the altitude, the harvest usually takes place in mid-October and is the last Agiorghitiko we harvest. The grapes are cold with high acidity, intense minerality in taste and concentration.
This wine ages for 12 months in new French barrels and for 6 months to 1 year in the bottle in the winery’s cellar. The result is a wine with great aging potential.
Originally the wine’s color is bright, clean, deep ruby color. On the nose it has depth, strength and density. The aromatic character is focused on red fruits – sour cherries, blueberries, red cherries – along with spice, aromatic herbs and a touch of minerality.
On the palate it is medium to full bodied with interesting acidity and very high quality tannins, while aromas of red fruits, earth and metal together with tobacco and spices dominate. The aftertaste is long, complex with constant evolution.
